Marmot Alpinist 2p Tent – The Right Choice For A 4 Season Tent?

The marmot alpinist 2p tent as the name implies is designed for mountaineering use, to be pitched up in the alpine in all seasons and all weathers but is it a serious contender in the 4 season range especially when you require tents like this to work well in extreme conditions?

I believe this is a great tent and nearly every review I have seen would seem to agree, the only slightly negative views being the erected height at 40 inches some people will want a little bit more head room but given that the higher a tent is the more it gets battered by the wind, I say it’s no bad thing. So how does this tent perform so well and what sets it apart from the competition?

Firstly the Marmot Alpinist tent is very light for a four season tent this is due to marmot’s single wall construction using the marmot membrane fabric and added strength in the pole design and construction.

The Alpinist also has Marmot’s knee poles system – this increases the internal space of the tent by putting small bends near the bottom of the poles which makes the bottom of the tents sides more vertical, it also does this without adding and extra poles or losing any strength in the poles..

The Alpinist can be set up very quickly which is one of the features that makes it so good, it also uses Marmots ‘Storm Pitch’ which lets you errect the tent in storm conditions without getting any rain in the inner tent, another great feature which sets this tent apart from the rest.!

Storing equipment outside of the sleeping area can be done using the retractable vestibule, which then gives you more space in the inner tent.

The Alpinist also benefits from factory taped seams for added weatherproofing, also the seams on the floor of the tent are raised off the ground a bit like a bath tub so there is even less chance of water getting in.

An adjustable airflow ventilator is another handy feature of the alpinist tent, this ventilator helps to get the air flowing through the tent helping to stop any condensation build up..

I think the features above are the main reasons that make the marmot alpinist 2p a great tent for alpine adventures, there are of course others if you want to see a list of the specifications or purchase the tent please click here marmot alpinist 2p.
