It’s that time of year again. Everyone is on vacation and you are totally lost in where to take your family this year. You want to do something really special and totally different from the norm. But what? Why not consider camping combined with skiing. It will get the family bonding and chatting and laughing again in no time.
It is a thrill to sit and plan where and when you as a family will embark on an adventure such as this, because everyone gets to play an important role in planning and executing it as well. You children need to have some responsibility in making the trip a success and you could give them lots of small tasks to do. No doubt the boys will remember to bring along their men’s sport watch so they could keep track of time and use all the features on it as well. And of course for the ladies they will definitely want to pack their digital book reader, for the day it rains and you will have to stay indoors.
Because our children are subjected to technology at an early age, they tend to spend their lives either surfing the internet or playing games with their friends. It is so important to make them see how that leaving one’s room to be with the family, is just as exciting and thrilling as the next high speed car chase.
We the parents are to blame in some areas because it is easier to keep an eye on a child if he is up in his room, than not knowing where he is or what he is up to if not at home. So we subconsciously provide them with entertainment that will keep them in doors. There is nothing inherently wrong with it, it just keeps the child away from nature and physical exercise.
So you might be living near a ski resort or you could do a day trip to one, why not take your alpine skiing equipment along and make it a skiing trip as well. Combined with camping or just sleeping in a log cabin, this activity is guaranteed to bring the child out in you and for that matter, bring out the child in your children again. It provides hours of fun as they laugh at your attempts of jumping or just falling down in the snow.
The huge plus of course is you will be exposed to the sun’s UV rays, and it will provide that all important Vitamin D which we all are so deficient in. This all important vitamin helps us to absorb calcium better which in turn keeps our bone structure healthy and especially helps growth in young children.
You can’t go wrong with an outdoor vacation it will bind and foster a better relationship with all family members.
